KHALIJI Workshop WITH KHADIJAH

Saturday April 17th from 2 to 7 pm

Dance Mission Theater 3316 24thSt. San Francisco, CA 94110

About Khadijah

Khadijah was born in Saudi Arabia, grew up in Jeddah and is of Kenyan descent. She is a dancer, choreographer, educator and ethnologist specializing in Afro-Arabian music and dance.

To her, dance is a means of communicating musical emotion rather than simplly displaying technical movements. She feels that dancers need to understand the music, instrumentation, lyrics, appropriate costuming and the culture represented. Her major inspirations besides the requisite Egyptian dancers such Mahmoud Reda are her own grandmother.

Bring a khaliji dress if you have one.

Workshop registration ends April 1, 2027

Please feel free to check the Archives link in the menu. This link takes you to my old website that in 2015 froze and stopped letting me fix or update. There is a lot of great information there. There was too much information to transfer, so after transferring a few relevant pages I decided to just leave the rest there for you to explore like an archaeological dig.
